Dice Roller

Roll d4 to d1000 with modifiers, keep/drop rules, exploding dice, and d20 advantage or disadvantage.

Updated

What is the Dice Roller?

Roll physical dice anywhere — without carrying a bag of plastic.

This online dice roller supports common dice notation and keeps a short roll history in the current page. It uses the browser's cryptographic random number generator when available, with a standard random-number fallback.

What you can roll:

  • Standard polyhedral: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100
  • Custom dice from d2 to d1000 — perfect for homebrew tables (d37, d200)
  • Complex notation: 4d6kh3 (drop lowest), 2d20adv, 8d6!+2 (exploding)

Why it's better:

  • Roll history & stats — see recent results, averages, and a nat-20 rate
  • Advantage/disadvantage in one click — no macros to remember
  • Blind GM mode hides results until you reveal
  • No login or install — use it in a browser on desktop or mobile
  • Built for D&D, Pathfinder, Yahtzee, Farkle, classrooms, and quick "dice roller 1-6" decisions

How it works

  1. Type notation in the box — e.g., 1d20, 2d6+3, 4d6kh3
  2. Tap Roll or press Enter. Results appear instantly with individual dice shown.
  3. Use quick buttons for d4–d100, Adv, Dis, and Fireball presets.

The roller uses your device's secure random number generator, then applies keep/drop/explode logic locally. Your rolls never leave your browser.

Pro tips:

  • Copy any result with one click to share in Discord or Roll20
  • Toggle Blind mode for hidden GM rolls

Frequently asked questions

What is an online dice roller?

An online dice roller simulates real dice using random number generation. You type notation like 2d6 or 1d20+5 and get instant results — ideal when you don't have physical dice, play remotely, or need complex rolls like 8d6 fireball damage.

Is this dice roller truly random and fair?

The roller uses the browser's Web Crypto random number generator when available. If that API is unavailable, it falls back to Math.random(). Digital rolls are not independently auditable, so do not use this tool where a verifiable or regulated draw is required.

How do I roll a simple dice roller 1-6?

Type 1d6 and press Roll. For two six-sided dice, use 2d6. Add a modifier with 2d6+3. The quick d6 button does this in one tap — perfect for Monopoly, Yahtzee, or classroom games.

What does 4d6kh3 or "4d6 drop lowest" mean?

It's the classic D&D stat method: roll four six-sided dice and keep highest 3. We also support 4d6dl1 (drop lowest 1), kh, kl, dh, dl for any count.

How do advantage and disadvantage work?

Type 1d20adv to roll two d20s and keep the higher, or 1d20dis for the lower. It's built-in — you don't need macros like in Roll20. Only works for 1d20 to match 5e rules.

What are exploding dice?

Add ! after the dice — e.g., 6d6!. If a die rolls its maximum (a 6 on d6), it "explodes" and rolls again, adding to the total. Great for Savage Worlds and high-damage spells.

Can I roll custom dice like d37, d100, or d1000?

Yes. Unlike Google's roller (limited to standard dice), you can use any sides from d2 to d1000. Try 1d37, 1d200, or 1d1000 for homebrew tables.

Does it save my roll history?

The current page keeps up to 100 recent rolls, with summary statistics. The history is not saved between page loads.

Do I need to download an app or create an account?

No. Open the page in a browser and roll without installing an app or creating an account.
