Image Metadata Stripper
Remove EXIF, GPS, and hidden metadata from images privately in your browser
Updated
What is the Image Metadata Stripper?
Remove hidden EXIF, GPS coordinates, camera details, timestamps, and other metadata from your images instantly — completely in your browser.
Why strip metadata? Photos from smartphones and cameras embed sensitive information that can reveal your location, device, and habits. Our tool protects your privacy without uploading files to any server.
How it works
Our Image Metadata Stripper works entirely client-side using the browser's File API and Canvas:
- Upload — Select or drag-and-drop images (JPEG, PNG, WebP supported).
- Analyze — The tool scans JPEGs for EXIF data (camera info, GPS, timestamps) and displays a summary.
- Strip — Images are loaded into a hidden Canvas element and redrawn. This process automatically removes all embedded metadata segments while preserving visual quality.
- Download — Get individual cleaned files or bulk download all processed images.
Technical note: Canvas re-encoding is the most reliable cross-format method. Quality is adjustable (92% default) to balance file size and fidelity. No data ever leaves your device.
