What is the Unit Converter?
Convert any unit of measurement instantly — no page reload, no sign-up, no installs. Whether you need to convert kilometres to miles for a road trip, Celsius to Fahrenheit for a recipe, or gigabytes to gibibytes when buying storage, this tool handles all twelve measurement categories in one place.
Type a value in either the From or To field and the result updates live. Flip the direction with the ⇄ Swap button, or browse the full reference table below the inputs to see every unit in the category at a glance — ideal for students, engineers, developers, and anyone working across metric and imperial systems.
Supported categories: Length · Weight · Temperature · Speed · Area · Volume · Digital Storage · Time · Pressure · Energy · Angle · Power — covering over 100 units with scientifically accurate conversion factors.
How it works
1. Pick a category
Click any pill tab at the top — Length, Weight, Temperature, Speed, Area, Volume, Data, Time, Pressure, Energy, Angle, or Power. The unit selectors update immediately to show only the units that belong to that category.
2. Enter a value
Type your number into the From field. The result appears instantly in the To field as you type — no submit button needed. You can also type directly into the To field to convert in reverse; the tool detects which field is active and computes the other direction automatically.
3. Choose your units
Use the dropdown menus below each input to select the exact units you want. Both dropdowns show all units in the chosen category, so switching from feet to yards or from psi to atmospheres takes a single click.
4. Swap directions
Hit the ⇄ button between the two fields to flip From and To in one step. The current result automatically becomes the new input value, so you never lose your place.
5. Read the reference table
Below the inputs, an All Conversions table shows your value expressed in every available unit for the chosen category. Rows for the currently selected From and To units are highlighted with badges, making it easy to scan the full picture at once — useful when you need to compare multiple units side by side.
6. Copy the result
Click the copy icon on the result banner to copy the formatted value and unit symbol to your clipboard in one tap.
Conversion accuracy
All conversions use exact or internationally standardised factors:
- Linear units (length, weight, speed, area, volume, data, time, pressure, energy, angle, power) are converted via a base-unit chain — each unit stores a factor relative to a single base, so any pair can be converted without a lookup table.
- Temperature uses the correct offset formulas (not just multiplication), so Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin, and Rankine all convert accurately, including at absolute zero.
- Results are displayed to 7 significant figures — sufficient for engineering, science, and everyday use — and switch to scientific notation automatically for very large or very small values.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert kilometres to miles?
How do I convert kilometres to miles?
Enter your distance in the From field, select Length as the category, choose Kilometre in the From dropdown and Mile in the To dropdown. The result appears instantly. The exact factor is 1 km = 0.621371 miles, so 100 km equals 62.14 miles.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Select the Temperature category, set From to Celsius and To to Fahrenheit, then type your temperature. The formula used is °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. For quick reference: 0 °C = 32 °F, 20 °C = 68 °F, 37 °C = 98.6 °F (body temperature), and 100 °C = 212 °F.
How do I convert kg to lbs?
How do I convert kg to lbs?
Pick the Weight category, set From to Kilogram and To to Pound, then enter your value. The factor is 1 kg = 2.20462 lb, so 70 kg equals approximately 154.32 lb.
What is the difference between a mile and a kilometre?
What is the difference between a mile and a kilometre?
One mile equals exactly 1.609344 kilometres. Miles are used primarily in the United States, United Kingdom, and a few other countries, while kilometres are the standard unit of road distance for most of the world.
Why does temperature conversion use a formula instead of a simple multiplier?
Why does temperature conversion use a formula instead of a simple multiplier?
Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine all use different zero points. Celsius sets 0 at water's freezing point; Fahrenheit sets 0 at a historical brine solution reference; Kelvin starts at absolute zero (−273.15 °C). Because the scales are offset, you cannot simply multiply — you must also add or subtract a constant. The converter handles all four scales automatically.
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
A gigabyte (GB) equals exactly 1,000,000,000 bytes (10⁹), following the SI decimal prefix system. A gibibyte (GiB) equals 1,073,741,824 bytes (2³⁰), following the IEC binary prefix system. Operating systems traditionally report storage in GiB but label it "GB", which is why a "1 TB" hard drive shows as roughly 931 GiB in Windows or macOS. This converter supports both SI (KB, MB, GB, TB) and IEC (KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB) units.
How do I convert speed from mph to km/h?
How do I convert speed from mph to km/h?
Select Speed, set From to Mile / Hour and To to Kilometre / Hour. The factor is 1 mph = 1.60934 km/h. So 60 mph equals approximately 96.56 km/h — close enough to 100 km/h that many drivers use "100 km/h ≈ 62 mph" as a mental shortcut.
Can I convert in both directions — for example, from feet to metres and then back?
Can I convert in both directions — for example, from feet to metres and then back?
Yes. You can type in either input field. If you type in the To field, the converter reverses direction and computes the From value automatically. You can also click the ⇄ Swap button to flip the units and carry the result across as the new input.
How do I convert area units like square feet to square metres?
How do I convert area units like square feet to square metres?
Select the Area category, choose Sq. Foot as the From unit and Sq. Metre as the To unit, then type your value. The exact factor is 1 ft² = 0.09290304 m². The All Conversions table also shows your value in acres, hectares, square kilometres, and more at the same time.
What units are supported for pressure conversion?
What units are supported for pressure conversion?
The Pressure category covers Pascal (Pa), Hectopascal (hPa), Kilopascal (kPa), Megapascal (MPa), Bar, Millibar (mbar), PSI, Atmosphere (atm), mmHg (Torr), and Inch of Mercury (inHg). These cover everyday use cases like tyre pressure (PSI, bar), atmospheric pressure (hPa, atm), and engineering applications (MPa, Pa).
How accurate are the conversion results?
How accurate are the conversion results?
Results are calculated to 7 significant figures, which is sufficient for the vast majority of scientific, engineering, and everyday applications. All conversion factors follow international standards — SI definitions, exact imperial definitions (e.g. 1 inch = 25.4 mm exactly), and IUPAC values for physical constants. For temperature, Kelvin absolute zero is set at −273.15 °C per the BIPM definition.
Does this converter work on mobile?
Does this converter work on mobile?
Yes. The tool is fully responsive. On mobile the two input fields stack vertically, the unit dropdowns are touch-friendly, and the Swap button is centred between the fields for easy thumb access. No app download or sign-in is required.
Can I convert energy units like kcal to kilojoules?
Can I convert energy units like kcal to kilojoules?
Select the Energy category, set From to Kilocalorie and To to Kilojoule. The factor is 1 kcal = 4.184 kJ. The category also supports Joules, Megajoules, Watt-hours, BTU, Electronvolts, and Foot-Pounds — useful for nutrition labels, physics problems, and engineering calculations alike.
